If a picture is worth a thousand words… what’s your profile photo saying? Most people think a great headshot is about the camera. It isn’t. It’s about everything that happens before the first click. The truth is, most of us don’t enjoy being photographed. In fact, around 95% of people feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. And you can usually see it. That’s why so many profile photos are cropped holiday snaps, rushed selfies or pictures that no longer reflect who the person is today. It’s not because people don’t care. It’s because being in front of a camera feels awkward. But your profile photo is often the first impression people have of you. Before you’ve spoken. Before you’ve shaken hands. Before they’ve read your bio. It tells a story. Does yours communicate confidence, credibility and professionalism? Or is it saying something you never intended? After more than 30 years styling presenters, broadcasters and business professionals, I’ve learned that confidence in front of the camera isn’t something you’re born with. It comes from preparation.
